Hello all,
I am traveling in E.Asia, I need to look up something on www.archive.org,
but because of local restrictions (hotel firewall, no cafe) I cannot get
SSH tunneling to work, I hope this direct remailed post sent by https
cotse does get posted.
PLEASE CAN SOME BODY HELP TO ME?
All you need to do is quickly websurf to archive.org and lookup there the
latest version of this canceled website :
http://dir ekic kfeu d.blogspot.com (take out the three spaces!)
and then give me the URL to the archived copy of it, which will look some
thing like :
http://web.archive.org/web/20NNWXYZ123456/dir ekic kfeu d.blogspot.com
All I need is the "20NNWXYZ123456" part, which is the archive.org index to
the cached website.
Two thousand blessings from Buddha Ma if you post the reply here, thanks.
If you have time, post the URL or archive.org index for all archived
versions.
Thirteen thousand blessings then!

No. All you can do is to get the hotel to change its firewalling policy.
And when you get home set up one of your computers to accept ssh on port
80, so that you can then do ssh on port 80 which is never blocked by the
hotel. (That home computer obviously cannot also be a webserver, since
it already uses port 80)

Sorry, we are going to go to an entirely unkown web site for someone we
do not know ? It could just
be a site designed to install a virus/trojan onto my system.
Phone someone who knows you and get them to do it for you.

archive.org is an entirely unknown web site?

I often visit the Internet Archive. Since I know I can copy the URI of
an archive entry WITHOUT opening it, I can give you the following:

Have you tried to surpass the firewall with Tor configured to use only
port 80 (http) and 443 (https)?

Add

FascistFirewall 1
ReachableAddresses *:80,*:443

to torrc.
