For long time I am using still older type, the RSA3 version of
'legacy' pgp key. All my correspondece partners have the public key
and so all is fine for me so far.

However now I wanted use it also under linux with the standard there
gpg and what ever front ends like enigma in thunderbird etc.

Under windows, I managed with no big problems to include the idea.dll
and so all is compatible again.
But what to do under linux? How to use this key which for
compatibility reasons will use IDEA as sym algo?

Is there something like this idea.dll also for linux?

You have to install the idea plugin, which you can get from sites like
http://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/plf/mandriva/cooker/free/binary/i586/gnupg-idea-plugin-20030215-2plf2009.1.i586.rpm

Then you have to enable it by editing ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf, and add
load-extension idea

To move your key-pair (public and PRIVATE) from a PC with Windows to a
PC with Linux, see my <http://www.rossde.com/PGP/key_mgmnt.html#xfer>.
See specifically "Two Dissimilar Computers With Removable Media".
